In addition to performances of great music, Rochester Symphony is committed to providing music education that will bring appreciation and enjoyment of classical music to future generations. With a range of programs available—from Free Family Previews to Concerts for 4th Grade Students—we bring great music to life for people of all ages.

These are mini versions of two concerts each season performed just for families.

Playing with the Pros
Playing with the Pros is a unique program for advanced music students to solo with the orchestra. Upcoming date: January 26th, 2025.
Students work with their music instructor to prepare a recorded audition. Selected participants will receive coaching from the Rochester Symphony conductor in preparation for their performance.

Concerts for 4th Grade Students
This program is available to all 4th graders in Rochester and the surrounding area at no cost to area schools. A concert planned specifically to this age group is performed by the full orchestra, providing a fun and impactful classical concert experience - for the first time for many students.
