Auditions

Orchestra

Rochester Symphony Orchestra is not currently holding auditions.

As Rochester’s only professional orchestra, we receive more audition requests than we can accommodate. A symphony orchestra of around 70 paid-per-service musicians performing six concert sets per season, we typically hold auditions for any open position and for our substitute list once per year. Rochester Symphony utilizes a blind audition process with musicians playing behind a screen for a listening panel to ensure fairness for all who apply.

To be added to a list of interested musicians, send an email to our leadership that includes your name and instrument. We will contact you when an audition appropriate to your instrument is announced.

Chorale

Rochester Symphony Chorale is a volunteer, auditioned ensemble of 90 voices that rehearses weekly on Monday evenings and performs with the Rochester Symphony Orchestra in two concerts each season. Auditions are open to new singers of any vocal persuasion.

The next round of chorale auditions will be held this summer for the 2023/24 concert season. If you would like to be notified when specific dates are scheduled, contact us.
